Ten years ago Gabriela Kozyra left Poland to study Jazz at the Royal Conservatoire of the Hague and later Brazilian music at the Rotterdam's Conservatoire, which she graduated from cum laude.
Studied with Rachel Gould, Fay Classen, Jose Koning amont others, and took master classes in Holland as well as Rio de Janeiro. So far she has been involved in many different projects: “Requiem para el Mundo” with Nueva Manteca, “Music and Poetry” with Annaelis de Jong, the Codarts Big Band Project with guest musician Cyro Baptista, Nelson Faria, Rick Margitza, Carlos Werneck, Billy Hart and the most recent one with her own quartet playing the music of Guinga. She performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival and Jazz International Rotterdam in Holland, Silesjan Jazz Meeting in Poland, Modern Sound in Rio de Janeiro. She sang also for the president of Brazil during his visit in the Netherlands in 2008. In April 2009, she received a fund from a prestigious organization Prins Bernhard Cultuur Fonds to study in a unique and the only school of choro and samba in Brazil and in the world called “Portatil” in Rio de Janeiro.
Currently she is preparing her first record which will include music of contemporary Brazilian composers, some of who authorized their unedited yet compositions to Gabriela.
