Dimitris
Lappas was born in Melbourne Australia in 1973. His first contact with the
stage was at the age of 9 years in Australia playing bouzouki. At age of 11 he
moved to Thessaloniki, where he continued to be involved with music until he
was 16th. Then he moved to Brussels to attend guitar lessons and
1997 found in Sofia where he collaborated with Elias Klwnaridi and the
Alternative Bulgarian Orchestra… His great love for music and the thirst for
exploration of oriental scales and makam, led him in Istanbul where he lived 4
years starting collaborations with musicians of the city. Some of these were
with the Turkish Cypriot singer Ziynet Sali, the ensemble Café Aman İstanbul,
the orchestras of public television TRT1 and TRT2, Vassilis Saleas clarinet
soloist and the Orchestra A la Turka Pop Star Orchestra, giving concerts
throughout Turkey. He has long-standing and stable collaborations with
distinguished composers, lyricists, musicians and singers such as Vassilis
Lekkas, Eleni Vitali, George Dalaras, Dionysis Savvopoulos, Sotiria Leonardou,
Nikos Dimitratos, Petros Doyrdoympakis, Pantelis Thalassinos, Arleta, Lefteris
Papadopoulos, Dimitris Staroba, Mimis plessas, Haris Alexiou, Nikos Papazoglou,
Lizeta Kaimeri, Melina Kana, Gianni Haroulis, Ferhat Gocer, Eleni
Tsaligopoulou, Thanasis Papakonstantinou, Rock Opera Alexander, Gerasimos
Andreatos, Apostolos Rizos, Maki Seviloglou , Kostas Anastasiades, Gioti
Kiourtsoglou etc. … He has composed music for theatre plays and has composed
musical works such as the Trilogy, Lapino, Bouzouki Swing etc. Has taught in seminars like soloist
related mainly issues like the approach of improvisation on the oriental
popular music roads and "urban folk music" at Aivali, the Yeni Mosque
(at the World Congress of scientists), in France at the brasserie Terminus etc.
He is the founder of the ensemble LAPINO PROJECT (jazz mix, funk with Oriental
approach). Has more than 4,500 participations in live, tv and radio appearances
worldwide, as well as in the discography as musician, composer, producer and
arranger. Basic instruments: Acoustic – Electrical – Fretless, Classical
Guitar, Bouzouki, Oud, Baglama, Tzouras.
